Terms of Service
Last updated 7 October 2026
These terms are a contract between you and Noughts & Crosses Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us"), for the use of Curtex. By creating an account, joining one, or using the service, you agree to them. If you are using Curtex for an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms on its behalf, and "you" includes that organisation.
1. The service
Curtex is a shared knowledge base: documents, lists, spreadsheets, presentations and chats, kept as Markdown, with AI features that read and write that content and connectors that let outside AI clients and tools reach it. We may change, add to or withdraw features as the service develops. We will give reasonable notice before withdrawing anything a paid account depends on.
2. Accounts
- You sign in with a Google or Apple account. You are responsible for keeping that account secure and for everything done through your Curtex sign-in.
- A Curtex account is owned by the person who created it. Owners and admins decide who is a member, what each member can see and do, and which connectors and privacy settings apply. We act on their instructions.
- You must be at least 18 and must give us accurate information.
3. Your content
You own what you put into Curtex. You give us the permission we need to store, process, back up, display and transmit it in order to provide the service to you and the people you share it with, including sending the relevant parts to an AI provider when you ask the AI something. That permission ends when the content is deleted, subject to the retention periods in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, and for how you share it. A public share link can be opened by anyone who has it.
We do not train AI models on your content and do not allow our providers to.
4. AI output
AI replies are produced by third-party models that we route your request to. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and they may produce similar output for other people. You are responsible for checking anything you rely on, and AI output is not professional advice of any kind. Models come and go as their providers change them; we do not promise that any particular model will stay available.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use Curtex to:
- break the law, or infringe anyone's rights, including their privacy or intellectual property;
- upload malware, or probe, overload or interfere with the service or anyone else's use of it;
- gain access to accounts, workspaces or content you have not been given access to;
- resell or provide the service to third parties, unless we have agreed to it in writing;
- generate content that is illegal, or that a model provider's own usage policy forbids.
6. Connectors and API keys
When you connect an AI client or create an API key, that client or key reads Curtex as the person who authorised it, within whatever the account's owners allow. You are responsible for the clients you connect, for keeping keys secret and for revoking them when they are no longer needed. What a third-party client does with content it reads is between you and that client's provider.
7. Fees
Some use of Curtex is paid for. Prices, what is included and how AI usage is charged are as shown when you sign up or as agreed with you in writing. Charges are in pounds sterling and exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise. If an account's charges go unpaid we may suspend it after giving notice. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice to account owners.
8. Availability and backups
We work to keep Curtex available and we keep encrypted backups, but we do not promise uninterrupted service or a particular level of uptime unless we have agreed one with you in writing. Your content is stored as Markdown and you can export it at any time; keeping your own copy of anything critical is your responsibility.
9. Privacy
How we handle personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. Where we process personal data on behalf of your organisation we do so as its processor; a data processing agreement is available on request.
10. Our property
Curtex, its software, design and name belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you a right to use the service, not any rights in it. Feedback you give us about Curtex can be used by us without obligation.
11. Ending the agreement
- You can stop using Curtex at any time. An account owner can delete the account from its settings; deleted data is erased on the schedule in the Privacy Policy.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts the service or other users at risk, or goes unpaid. Where it is reasonable to do so we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right.
- If we withdraw the service altogether we will give at least 60 days' notice so you can export your content.
12. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Otherwise, the service is provided as it is. We are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business or data, or for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you in any 12 month period is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in that period, or £100 if you paid nothing.
You will cover us against claims from third parties that arise from content you put into Curtex or from your breach of these terms.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with its date and, for changes that materially affect you, tell account owners at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Curtex after that date means you accept the new terms.
14. General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers in Scotland or Northern Ireland may bring proceedings there. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable the rest still applies. These terms, with the Privacy Policy and any written agreement between us, are the whole agreement about the service. You may not transfer your rights under them without our consent.
